US Embassy Move to Jerusalem?

Dear all,

Just back from a quick two days in DC, packed with friendly meetings and strategy sessions, in the House, Senate and White House. Thanks to all those who took part or made it possible. It is important to note the overwhelming support that there is in ‘all three of those houses’ for two things: moving the embassy to Jerusalem, and recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s united capital. Seems easy: Move the embassy by keeping a presidential campaign promise and simply not signing the waiver on June 1. Recognize Jerusalem by making a clear statement to that effect – POTUS has the power to create and change US foreign policy.

The very best time to do all of this would be, naturally, on his upcoming trip to Israel. Just one day before the jubilee celebration of Jerusalem’s reunification in 1967- her 50th modern birthday, if you will, in this most ancient of cities – President Trump can tell the world what we know to be true, and prove his deep friendship with Israel. Reports would have us believe this is not the case, and that progress will be slower. We can only hope that if this is true, a tremendous opportunity will not be squandered by cautious, harmful delay. We can hope that the majority of your voices will be heard, and be effective in getting the message out that we expect no less. US recognition of Jerusalem as our capital would go a long way, with a shopping-list of domino effects. We will share that with any of you who so request the details.

Meanwhile, keep working, keep praying, stick to what you believe and find ways to express to the White House your deepest conviction that this is the right thing – an now. Stay in touch because we are involved in efforts that include high level WH meetings, letters from Congress, and possibly a resolution if and when that becomes necessary and the first dates may pass unchanged. Drop a note to us so we include those of you in Congress.

Special shout-out to Congressman Louie Gohmert, who’s heading a security-oriented mission to Israel, together with first responders from Homeland Security, Department of Defense, California, Texas and more. It’s a great group, we’ve had interested talks at the Prime Minister’s office, the Knesset, met with folks with security backgrounds – and although no one in the room can really divulge what they do, you get the feeling that alot is going on. Particularly between our two countries – the level of cooperation and the knowledge that we share is phenomenal. What’s even more encouraging is how much more we can learn from each other, and we will do so now that we are connecting through our organization and through ASTI.

Best from Israel,
Ruthie
