Special edition: Hezbollah & Iran

Friends,

Today is a special day, as we remember President Bush senior. He was key to Israel relations, particularly in the era of staunch Prime Minister Yitzchak Shamir.

When tomorrow comes, turn your attention to Israel’s ongoing battle on the northern border, just beyond our towns and homes. What is always a Hezbollah threat has now become a tangible attack on our people, from Lebanese soil and funded by Iran. What you see in these videos are serious, deep, highly developed tunnels dug over much time by the terrorists in order to infiltrate and defeat Israel. What you don’t see is the very expensive effort invested in creating these weapons of war, funded by Iran and promoted by many of those who would rather see Israel destroyed.

In addition, the Prime Minister led a briefing to explain Israel’s response, showing footage of the terrorists starting their tunnel in Lebanon under a building belong to UNIFIL (!) – the irony, I am sure, is not lost on you in this week of UN decisions debasing Israel and undermining our right to security. It is in hebrew but the military camera’s visuals speak for themselves – see ‘digging site’ below and check it for yourself on google maps. Actions speak louder than words.

I wonder how even Israel’s detractors can consider defending this act of war. It is in direct violation of UN Resolution 1701 in 2006, not ancient history by any means.

Ask the people around you – peers in Congress, reporters, state-wide leaders, decision-makers at all levels – how do you explain this without supporting Israel’s right to defend her borders?

I leave that to you, and return to the glowing peace of night #4 as we light the Hanukka candles. We remember the brave Maccabees of yore who fought the mighty Greeks – where are they now? Our IDF will do what it must to protect our homes and our children. God bless.
