DC visitors to Israel!

Friends,

Just saw our latest Yes! Israel Mission guests off at the airport, after a whirlwind week here together. Congressmen Jim Jordan and Mike Johnson and their wives Polly and Kelly were our amazing guests here on an educational mission. We had a blast, but more importantly, a very intense time seeing the country and hearing its people speak out, from north to south and in the heartland in between. From the Golan Heights and Jordan Valley to the Negev’s capital Beer Sheva and the Judean & Samarian hills, with Jerusalem and meetings with PM Netanyahu, town Mayors, military and judiciary officials and regular cowboys & farmers, Jews and Arabs, living together to figure out a secure future.

It was a privilege and a pleasure. The Temple Mount was a spiritual high, Ambassador Friedman sharing US political achievements, green (!) rolling hills and a full Sea of Galilee / Kinneret.. we shared family values, hopes and goals both personal and congressional, and a special Shabbat together at our home. Thank you Ethics committee, for working with us to achieve this incredibly creative and important, not to mention unique, itinerary – the only way to truly get to know a country, its people and heritage.

Meanwhile, enjoy these reports on the trip, although we did very little press; spent the time with the people and issues that really matter in US – Israel relations.
And let us know if you’re our next congressional guests!

Special shout out with grateful thanks to the Paleys, what a team – Sarah my indefatigable, incredibly talented partner in Congressional crime, and Jonathan who made the trip possible from his initial supportive vision, to a moving musical Hallelujah sendoff and everything in between. And to Avi, of the 12 Tribe Films Foundation for his constant good cheer and talented filming, online presence and all around brilliance – a constant source of support for us all.

We had sunshine-y days and are now moving back to blessed rains this weekend! Shabbat shalom –

Ruthie
