US & Israel Politics yet changes stay the same!

Dear all,

As much as things change, they seem to stay the same.

While many of you are busy fighting an impeachment wave, it looks eerily similar in Israel. Coalition building centers on the question of Bibi’s future. And on what his potential coalition partners bargain for their own futures. In this super-saturated media era, the overwhelming feeling of the public – at least here in Israel – is tired. Tired of hearing about egos and intrigue. Tuning out when it comes to political maneuvers, preferring to wait til the weather report. Some would say disgust. I’d say more likely that the average person on the Israeli street just wants things to run well, without imposing too much on their day to day. The same is probably true for Americans – few are clamoring for Trump’s head, while the media busies itself looking for any story that can sensationalize this avenue.

Governments should be busy governing. Yes, of course there should be checks and balances – without creating a freeze on the act of governing. The people have a right to their leadership. Every four years, they’re asked who should be in charge, and this answer should be enough to allow for real governance. That’s democracy. Not politicos taking advantage of a hungry media that wants to be fed by politicians with agendas other than the greater good.

I have found myself avoiding the daily perusal of headlines and front pages. It just doesn’t change. Better we should stick to our goals, work for the benefit of our surroundings – some of you are quite involved in the process, on either side of the ocean; while others have additional, good goals to reach by the end of each day.

So dig in, believe that you can create change, and stay in touch so we know what you’re up to.

Best regards from the whole team!
